We then continue to visit the former royal palace, currently the National Museum, originally built during French colonial time as a residence for King Sisavangvong and his son Sisavangvathana who was the last king of Laos.

After breakfast, met at the hotel and transferred to boat docking station. Embark on local motorized boat for a few hours on the Mekong River to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves in the side of a limestone cliff and opposite of the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers. The sanctuaries at Pak Ou consist of two large caves, both repositories for thousands of Buddha images, which range from mere centimeters to two meters in height.
En route, Lao typical villages are barely visible behind a screen of foliage. Slender canoes bobbing by the shore and bamboo poles and floats mark the location of nets and fish traps. Visit Ban Muangkeo, a simple traditional village known as a fishing village and there are some families distill rice wine as well for their local consumers. We will return to Luang Prabang by the same boat.

This early morning you have the option to wake up before dawn to witness and observe a traditional ceremony of hundreds of saffron-robed monks collecting alms from local people along the main street. Please keep an appropriate distance and observe the ritual in silence. Dress appropriately – shoulder, chest, and legs should be covered. This monk procession is a ritual ceremony to let the local people have the opportunity for offering alms every single day before they start their daily lives. Watch the town comes to life in the morning and then return to hotel for breakfast.
Today after breakfast and check out, you will escape from the stress of modern life and step into the tranquil world of the Kuangsi waterfall, 30km south of town. Stop en route to visit a Laotian village of Ban Ou known for rice and cotton planting. The waterfall where water tumbles 180 feet down staggered cliffs before crashing into the clear, azure pools below. On the five-minute walk to the main waterfall, you will pass by the Free the Bears center, a rescue center for endangered Asiatic black bears.
